FOLLOWING a bid for a £75m ring road around Chippenham east, councillors from Westbury and Melksham want Wiltshire Council to be more ambitious in improving roads and infrastructure in their towns.
Cllr Gordon King said: "There's a risk the bid will be a distraction and timescales for the A350 will slip further away."
Melksham mayor Jon Hubbard said: "Houses are being built here, but there's no infrastructure, we live in chaos now." The council said dualling the A350 remains top priority.
A decision on the bid will be made by December.
