THIEVES have stolen £200 in a burglary at the Longs Arms pub restaurant in Trowbridge, it was disclosed today.

Police said this morning they were called out at 6.45pm last night to reports of a burglary of the pub's office and staff area. Around £200 was taken.

Officers responded and enquiries are ongoing. Police have also confirmed their operation was not immigration related and did not involve immigration officers.

A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said: “Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between 5.15pm and 6.45pm, or who may have dash cam footage from around that time, is asked to call 101 and quote crime reference 54190113367.”

Last night, diners posted messages on social media after their meals were disturbed by the blue light activity at the pub restaurant at Yarnbrook.

One patron said: "Sat having a meal and a police officer comes in on blue lights, followed by a load of staff running around and three more police officers and then a crime scenes investigator.

"Kitchen closed to food orders and a very quiet atmosphere."

Yesterday evening managers at the Hungry Horse pub restaurant declined to comment, referring calls to their head office as is their policy.

A spokesperson for the Longs Arms said later: "We can confirm there was a robbery at the pub on Thursday evening. Fortunately incidents like this are extremely rare and we are grateful no-one at the pub was badly hurt.

"We're currently working with the police on their investigations and the pub is open and trading as usual."

* We would like to apologise to the pub and its staff for the upset and embarrassment caused by the initial online report of this incident and to make it clear that immigration officials were not at the pub and immigration issues are not involved at all in this incident.
