A TROWBRIDGE cyclist remains in hospital after suffering life-changing injuries in a collision in Westbury last Sunday (November 17).

The collision occurred just after 6pm on the A350 junction with Coach Road. A BMW M5 was travelling south on the A350 approaching the Coach Road junction when it collided with the cyclist.

The cyclist – a man in his 40s from Trowbridge – was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with suspected life- changing leg injuries.

The four occupants in the BMW had all had left the scene when police officers arrived and were located walking along Coach Road.

One man aged 46 has been released under police investigation while enquiries continue. He was arrested on suspicion of multiple driving offences. Two other men and one woman, have been released with no further action being taken.

The road was closed for eight hours while a full accident scene examination was conducted.

PC Peter Williamson said: “This was a serious collision which has left a local man suffering serious life-changing injuries which will require surgery.

“I am keen to hear from any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have been driving along the A350 at this time who may have dash cam footage which could significantly help with our investigation.”
