DEFENDANTS who have appeared recently before magistrates in Swindon or Salisbury include:

CHIPPENHAM: A 57-year-old man has been given a jail sentence of 18 weeks suspended for two years, and told he must wear a tag under curfew for six months after pleading guilty to falsely obtaining disability allowance. The reason for Shaun Ryan, of Palmer Street’s suspended sentence was given as a ‘significant breach of trust over a long period of time’.

MARLBOROUGH: Ricky Lee Elliot, 28, of Purlyn Acre, has been remanded on bail, and ordered to obey a curfew after being accused of attacking a policeman in Trowbridge. He denies the charge. He was also ordered to stay away from a woman he is accused of beating up.

BRADFORD ON AVON: 30-year-old Amy Stephens, of Ashley Close, has been fined £40 after pleading guilty to fishing without a licence at Shearwater Lake in Warminster.

CHIPPENHAM: Kristian Cleverley, of Ludlow Close, pleaded guilty to driving off without paying for his petrol and was given 80 hours of community service.

CHIPPENHAM: Paul Gillingham, 36, of Oakhurst Road, was jailed for two weeks after he pleaded guilty to sending offensive messages designed to cause stress and anxiety to the recipient. His previous record was taken into consideration with the sentence.

PEWSEY: Howard Jones, 59, of Coombe Barne, has been found guilty of failing to stop at an accident in Rushall Road, Rushall. He was fined £440 and ordered to pay costs of £620.

MILTON LILBOURNE: Ralph Smith, 58, of The Street, has been fined £738 and banned from driving for 17 months for not providing a breath specimen.

CHIPPENHAM: Ryan Peck, 24, of Old Road, has had his case adjourned pending medical and psychiatric reports, after pleading guilty to assault.

CHIPPENHAM: 47-year-old Lee Thompson of Greenway Gardens, has been ordered to carry out 150 hours community service after pleading guilty to being drunk in a public place and carrying a knife.

MERE: Patrick Brady, 73 of Clements Lane, has had nine counts of sexually touching a young girl adjourned until March 10. The case goes back to 2009 and 2017 and relates to a range of sex acts allegedly committed on a girl under the age of 13.

TROWBRIDGE: A 16-year-old from Staverton, who is jointly accused with a 15-year-old from Trowbridge, of robbing a Tommy Hilfiger watch and a pair of apple airpods worth £385 has been remanded on bail after pleading guilty, for a pre-sentence report to be prepared. He is also pleaded guilty to ripping up a copy of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act Codes while at Melksham Police station.

MELKSHAM: A 15-year-old from Bowerhill, pleaded guilty to damaging a front door, and carrying two offensive weapons - a base ball bat and a hammer and using threatening words and behaviour. He was referred to the Wiltshire youth offender panel for four months which he must attend with his mother.

HILPERTON: A17-year-old denies, that he, together with another teenager intended to cause grievous bodily harm and malicious wounding, and of carrying an offensive weapon - a metal bar. He has been bailed as the case continues.

TROWBRIDGE: A Trowbridge teenager has been given a youth rehabilitation order after being found guilty of driving a Yamaha moped dangerously on Park Street. He also pleaded guilty to holding on to a stolen mountain bike worth £850.

TROWBRIDGE:16-year-old from Trowbridge, who was accused of threatening and abusive language towards two women has been referred to the Wiltshire young offenders panel for nine months.

TIDWORTH: Wayne Askew, 32, of Forest Drive has pleaded guilty to harassing a victim by calling, sending several emails and leaving a letter in their car. He pleaded not guilty to beating the victim. He has been given conditional bail until March 23.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: Stewart Ian Hendry, 32, of Queens Road has been accused of stalking a victim number by sending them messages via text and social media, attended their work and called their work colleagues.

He also made threats to harm himself. He has pleaded not guilty and has been kept in custody until March 19.
