A RAMSBURY drinks maker, best know for it's local gin, is turning it's hand to making sanitiser.

Ramsbury Single Estate distillery has developed its own hand sanitiser to support the local community in Wiltshire, and plans to make it available nationwide.

The liquid is made from spirit-based product at the distillery and it is being provided in bulk five litre bottles to hospitals and also to the local Police.

“Here at the Ramsbury distillery, we’ve turned our facilities to the production of a 70% ABV hand sanitiser, to do our bit in the fight against the current national health crisis," said a spokesperson.

."The antibacterial hand sanitiser is made from our own Neutral Grain Spirit – usually the base for our award-winning Single Estate gin and vodka.

"We’re currently supplying it to local hospitals and the local Police, with our team working hard to make it available to those in need nationwide."

The distillery is also lending what it hopes will be a helping hand to bars and pubs being hit by the coronavirus shutdowns.

They have launched Ramsbury & Friends to enable customers to buy drinks vouchers for their local bar or pub through a virtual tip jar.

The company will match every pound spent as a tip for the venue.

With the total donation going straight to the venue, they hope the initiative will help to ease the current pressure on drinkers’ much-loved bars.

If a favourite bar is not featured, customers can also nominate their choice by contacting friends@ramsbury.com

Mikul Kalyan, Global Brand Ambassador at Ramsbury Single Estate Spirits says: “It’s a truly unprecedented time that we’re living in and it can be hard to know how to help.

We launched this to pledge our support and give them something to look forward with friends and loved ones, once we return to normality.”

"We’re also supporting the hospitality industry in this time of crisis."

" We’re encouraging people to buy drinks vouchers for their local bar or pub through our virtual tip jar, and we’re pledging to match every pound spent as a tip for the venue, in order to boost their cash flow and give drinkers a delicious round of G&Ts to look forward to once it is safe to do so.“
