IN the last few weeks people across Wiltshire have risen marvellously to the Covid-19 coronavirus crisis.

Many have demonstrated the most beautiful and random acts of kindness to brighten our lives and bring a smile to our faces.

They have included distributing Easter eggs to residents and anonymously leaving treats for local police officers.

Charlie Osgood, in Devizes, said: “My friend Chrissie Maslen has been putting chocolate gifts on windscreens of police cars in Devizes.

“She started off anonymously but has now admitted it in a comment on their Facebook post. I thought it was so lovely of her.”

The treats were much appreciated by officers from Team 3 and neighbourhood police in Devizes.

They said: “Officers from Team 3 would like to thank the kind person who left an Easter treat on their vehicle windscreen this evening. Random acts of kindness really make these difficult times easier!” and “Thank you for the anonymous gift of kindness to Devizes Neighbourhood officers this evening, much appreciated.”

In Bromham, care worker Kaye Andrews has been organising Facebook live cooking demonstrations and singalong sessions to raise the spirits of locals.

Her daughter Stacey Wall said: “This Easter Sunday both her and my wheelchair bound dad Nick dressed as Easter bunnies to leave little Easter eggs on the doorsteps of families in the village. She is amazing and utterly selfless.”

Kaye, 57, who works at Hft in Rowde to support people who have learning difficulties, said: “Everyone is in such a predicament at the moment.

"It’s such a sad time. I just wanted to do something to bring a smile to people’s faces.”

Callum Stokes said: “My friend James Savory is a local window cleaner. He owns Window Gleam Trowbridge.

“He has given away a free window clean to 40 NHS staff which he is doing over the next three months. I thought it was a really nice gesture.”

MR Savory, 28, of Silk Street Lane, Trowbridge, said: "My offer was open to the whole of the NHS staff, not just doctors and nurses.

"It's my way of saying thank you to those who are putting their lives at risk to care for people who are sick.

"They are putting their lives on the line for everybody else. I also been in a position where I have served my country," said Mr Savory, who is a former Royal Navy gunner.

Mr Savory has more than 200 customers spread across Trowbridge, Bradford on Avon, Westbury, Warminster, Frome and Bath.

He plans to clean the windows of the 40 NHS who responded during the 12-week coronavirus lockdown period.

Mr Savory says he has a "waiting list" of 15 more NHS who replied to his offer.
