A postman has started wearing fancy dress to cheer his family and residents up doing coronavirus.
Richard ‘Rocky’ Romain, 56, who has been making the Sutton Veny rounds for over 20 years, wanted to bring residents a little happiness while he delivers their post.
He said: “My wife was feeling down and missing her family and lots of people who must be feeling the same way, so I thought I’d cheer everyone up.
“I thought I’d do it once, but everyone loved it.
“They’re waiting every morning peeping out the windows – so I ditched my uniform for fancy dress.
Equipped with an arsenal of 10 different costumes, Rocky will finish out the week with a different costume every single day but said he would love to continue dressing up even after he’s run out of costumes.
“I might have to buy some now and it would cost me a fortune,” he laughed.
While Rocky wants nothing more than to bring a smile to residents’ faces, he’s also doing this to cheer himself up as he has misses his co-workers and family.
He said: “In the mornings we have a laugh and joke, but some of the colleagues are not in early so there’s not many people in the building.
“There’s one chap I miss because he’s a real joker.
“I feel isolated in my workplace because you can’t get close to anyone.
“It’s horrible at the moment, I can’t even cuddle my grandchildren. I miss them and my family
dearly.”
