A paraglider who got stuck in a tall tree was rescued by firefighters yesterday.
Rope rescue teams from Chippenham and Trowbridge joined crews from Marlborough and Swindon to the call out to Whites Hill, Ramsbury yesterday afternoon after the pilot was stranded 30 metres up in a tree after the paraglider collapsed mid-flight.
A fire service spokesman said: "At 12:12pm, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a member of the public who had crashed into a tree following their paraglider collapsed in the Ramsbury Manor area.
"Crews from Marlborough and Swindon Fire Station attended the incident to rescue the member of the public from the tree. They had assistance from an Aerial Ladder Platform from Swindon as well as technical rope rescue teams from Chippenham and Trowbridge Fire Station.
"The casualty was approximately 25-30 metres high in the tree and was rescued using a combination of the aerial platform and tech-rescue teams. The casualty was given a precautionary check by the Ambulance Service to assess any injuries they may have sustained."
