THERE has been an outpouring of grief for the tragic loss of life near Calne at the weekend. The Gazette's online platforms have received hundreds of messages of sadness, condolence and support from you.

Teresa Brett told us: “My sincerest condolences to the families of the four young men who died in a car crash. Speaking as a mum whose own son died in 2014 but due to natural causes I am so sadly one person who will understand what these families are going through and will do for the rest of their days.

“I belong to The Compassionate Friends, a wonderful charity run by volunteers who have also lost their own children, grandchildren and siblings, so I would recommend getting in touch with them when you’re ready. My heart goes out to you.”

Michelle Campbell sent this: “Deepest sympathy from Belfast to the families of the four young men who tragically lost their lives. May God give you all the strength you need to get through the coming days, weeks, and months. Words will never be enough RIP .”

Wendy Reid: “How very tragic to hear of the loss of these four young men in this way. My thoughts, as am sure are many others, are with their families at this sad time.”

Stuart Wilson: “Such a shame, feeling sorry for the mom’s and dad’s who have lost their sons.”

Martin Elsender: “Unimaginable. Horrendously sad for all involved.... family, friends and emergency services. Just so sad.”

Another tribute said: “Such sad news, 4 young lives cut very short. My heart goes out to the families.”
