STUDENTS at Wiltshire College and University Centre in Trowbridge have appealed for apples to turn into food and drink products.

The Apple Project is designed to take apples that would otherwise go to waste and turn them into apple juice, jelly and chutney while teaching students employability skills.

The College said: “We are really proud of the apple project we run and the skills our learners have the opportunity to gain.

"We know that this year should be a fantastic year for apple harvesting with the fantastic weather we had at the beginning of lockdown, however due to Covid restrictions we are not able to get out and about to pick them as we would have in previous years.

"Without apples our project is not able to run and the opportunity for students to develop both skills and confidence in their own abilities through this project are lost.”

Apples should be taken to the College's Trowbridge campus for pressing.
