BRITISH singer-songwriter, pianist and composer Will Lawton has formed a new band called the Alchemists.

Earlier this summer, they launched a new part-live album, Abbey House Session, recorded in Malmesbury last year.

To celebrate the launch on CD and on vinyl, they will be playing a special live-streamed online gig from The Pound arts centre in Corsham at 8pm on Sunday October 11.

Will Lawton and The Alchemists are a collection of eclectic and seriously talented musicians from the Westcountry.

Together, they form one of the UK's most original and exciting upcoming bands.

The band comprises Will Lawton (piano and vocals), Weasel Howlett (drums), Buddy Fonzarelli (upright bass), Ami Kaelyn (guitar and vocals) and Harki Popli (tabla).

Dancing About Architecture said of the band: "The music of Will Lawton and The Alchemists fearlessly dips its foot pedals into folk, jazz, drum and bass and a smattering of indie, all served up with intelligent piano playing, intricate drum patterns and a husky voice. Beautifully arranged music.”

To mark the full digital release on October 1, the band are performing an exclusive one-hour live set with interviews with each band member.

The show will be broadcast on YouTube and tickets cost £5 from www.willlawtonmusic.co.uk

A private YouTube link will be sent out ahead of the gig after ticket purchase.

The performance is produced by LiveLounge.tv, with sponsorship support from Pound Arts, No Place Arts, Supermarine Music and Malmesbury Live Arts.

All revenues from the gig will be donated to the Bristol-based charity Changing Tunes, which often works in prisons using music and mentoring to help people lead meaningful lives, free from crime.
