Road users in Westbury, Trowbridge, Melksham and Chippenham may experience some additional delay this weekend.

An abnormal load is due to leave Brook Lane, Westbury, around 9.30am on Sunday (November 29) and travel along the B3097 to Trowbridge, where it will join the A350 before travelling onwards through both Melksham and Chippenham to the M4 at Junction 17.

Traffic travelling behind the move will not be able to overtake.

The move will consist of the load plus both private and police escort vehicles, with the load itself being a steel fabricated structure some 4.4m in width.

Owing to its width, the load will be slow moving and has the potential to cause congestion in places where oncoming traffic will be required to pull in and wait for the escort to pass.

Wherever possible, disruption will be kept to a minimum although both hauliers and motorists are asked to please be patient should they come across this load. Anyone travelling over this period on time critical matters should allow sufficient additional time for their journey.

Police escorting resources are being provided by officers, paid for by the haulier at no cost to the public.
