SOUTH West Wiltshire MP Dr Andrew Murrison says the new Covid-19 vaccine could be a 'game changer'.
Speaking in the House of Commons debate on Tuesday, Dr Murrison said he had voted in favour of the new regional Tier system.
He said: "I supported the second national lockdown, principally because schools remained open.
"However, I remain concerned about the lack of a plan B since it is clear that we could not continue with waves of restrictive lockdowns into 2021 that would crush lives, liberties and livelihoods."
Alluding to the vaccine, he added:
“It seems that we are now on the brink of a game changer, in a way that perhaps we could not be confident about last month.”
Dr Murrison said he has been in close contact with the two key hospitals catering for South West Wiltshire – Salisbury and the RUH in Bath – and will continue to scrutinise the Government’s approach to restrictions based on evidence such as hospital admissions.
