A Calne primary school is hoping to spread some festive cheer by supporting families in need this Christmas.
Saint Edmund's Catholic Primary School in Duncan Street is working alongside Community Christmas Calne Collection to collect donations of items such as toiletries and food which will then be given to vulnerable and low-income families.
The school has been collecting donations of soap, shower gel, bubble bath, flannels and toothbrushes, as well as food items including hot chocolate, coffee, Christmas puddings and festive sweet treats from pupils and parents who want to help others this Christmas.
Once the donations have been handed into the school, they will be collected and made into mini hampers which will be delivered to elderly, vulnerable or low-income families during December.
Headteacher Louise Brown said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for our school to play its part in supporting families in the community during this difficult time. Most of us are fortunate to have extra items in our cupboards which we could donate to this wonderful cause, to help make Christmas a little more special for our local vulnerable families."
