Malmesbury Primary School has been granted the chance to create an outside learning space to help Year 1 pupils.

The school recently received a £1,000 cash boost as part of the Persimmon Homes Wessex Community Champions project. Each month the housebuilder donates to two groups or individuals through the match funded scheme.

Clare Stone, who applied for the funding on behalf of Malmesbury Primary School, said: “This funding will help us to develop an outside learning space for our students. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 our fundraising events have been affected, so this £1,000 could not have come at a better time. This outdoor space will mean so much to the children, providing a hands-on learning experience so they can have free-flow play indoors and outdoors, which is particularly important at this time.”

Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “The school has been working very hard to fundraise for their new creative outdoor space and hope it will be enjoyed by generations of pupils to come."

“If people have been unsuccessful in their Community Champions application, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again, and hopefully they will become our next recipient.”
