There was no room in the inn - but there is in the car park! On Sunday (December 13) Emmanuel Church, Marlborough will be hosting a drive-in carol service in the car park of the town’s Tesco store.

Car Park Carols will enable townspeople to gather to sing their favourite Christmas hymns at the tops of their voices from the safety of their own cars.

There will be an angel on a motorbike, Mary arriving in a shopping trolley, activity bags for children and mince pies donated by Tesco.

It starts at 4.30pm. Admission is free but you must book in advance through www.emmarl.org/christmas.

Then bring a blanket and a warm drink in a flask and enjoy the singing.

Emmanuel’s pastor Reuben Mann said: “Due to the COVID restrictions, we couldn't ask the community to come inside and sing with us ... so we decided to come outside and sing with them instead.

“We got the idea from a group called Faith-in-Kids, who are encouraging car park carols nationally. We are so thankful to Tesco for providing us with a venue.”

Emmanuel Church was started five years ago by churches in nearby towns, to share good news about Jesus Christ with the community of Marlborough and the wider area. Emmanuel has grown since then, with families attracted by children’s groups both during their Sunday services and midweek.
