This December, illustration meets street art and street theatre meets animation in SN13 as Corsham Town Council, Martingate and Pound Arts bring much merriment to the High Street as an alternative to the annual Christmas Lights Switch On.

Artist and theatre maker Anna Bruder has created a ‘do-it-yourself’ family adventure inspired by all things Christmassy and wintry.

People can download an activity sheet from poundarts.org.uk before following a set of yeti footprints through the High Street and Martingate Centre that lead to a vast array of colourful activities, games and puzzles.

Meanwhile at Corsham's town hall, a piece of public art entitled 'Together' tells the story of the friendship between a Squirrel and a Fox during a snowy winter in Corsham.

It is available to view daily between 4pm and 8pm.

Corsham Town Council’s head of community services, Sharon Thomas, said: “At the end of what’s been a really difficult year for so many of us, we’re delighted to host ‘Together’ and celebrate the wonderful Corsham community, and Christmas, in this very special way.”

Andrew Hall from Martingate, a local landlord, said “Covid has been a difficult time for many, but this is a chance to forget all that and enjoy beautiful art and engaging activities. With two hours free parking, we hope to welcome lots of people from Corsham and beyond.”

As well as the trail and Together, Corsham’s shops have all been encouraged to create a window display on the theme of Winter Wonderland to be enjoyed on Saturday 5, 12 and 19 December alongside local buskers.
