A new video, the first of three, has been created by talented musicians in Devizes.

COVID restrictions have caused many cancellations of events throughout the year, including the ever popular Mayor’s Carol Concert.

In normal times, Devizes Town Band accompanies the combined choirs of the town’s primary schools, under the leadership of Lucy Wain.

This year, they have instead released a new video, featuring music from Devizes Town Band, local singer Colette Cassin, and the Devizes Primary School to commemorate the festive period.

Kelvin Nash, of the Town Band: "Not wishing this dreadful virus to get the better of us, I met with the Town Mayor, Cllr Chris Gay, and put forward an idea to create a virtual carol concert.

"Chris was excited by this, and we talked through a plan to make three short videos to follow on from the town’s virtual Christmas Lights switch on last week."

The first of the videos was launched on www.devizestownband.com at noon today.

The second video, featuring further Christmas classics as well as a short story by Roger Day will follow next Monday and the final festive film will go live on December 21.
