ORGANISERS of the White Horse Soap Box Derby have been forced to postpone the event until next year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The event was scheduled to have been staged on Saturday, May 22 on the road to the White Horse Hill at Bratton.
Uncertainty over when the coronavirus pandemic will come to an end has forced the organisers Westbury Town Council to postpone it until next year.
In a statement, the council said: "It is our intention, if circumstances, allow, to hold this event in 2022, with more details to follow when current restrictions are relaxed or removed.
"Public safety remains Westbury Town Council's primary focus, which is why the postponement of the event is undeniably the best course of action. The decision has been made after consultation with public health and our other project partners."
The council hopes to continue with the Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics schools workshops linked to the event.
