BRADFORD on Avon Town Council has agreed a four-year deal to lease an electric utility vehicle.
The 3 Series Cargo is made by Melex, one of the world's oldest manufacturers of electric vehicles.
Wardens have been trialling the vehicles and will use them to help manage green spaces being taken on as part of Wiltshire Council asset transfers.
The council has also accepted a tender from Electric Blue to install EV charging points at Bradford on Avon Youth & Community Centre.
Councillors ratified the decisions at their full council meeting last week. They are in line with the council’s climate and ecological emergency strategy.
The council said: "Currently, Bradford on Avon has very little capacity for public EV charging, with the points in Wiltshire Council’s Station Car Park having awaited maintenance and upgrades for an extended period.
"The town council is pleased to be able to add enhanced provision for residents and visitors alike to charge vehiclesin the town in line with our declaration of Climate and Ecological Emergencies."
