THE Tory Group leader on Trowbridge Town Council has urged young people to step up and get their Covid vaccinations after being jabbed by his local MP.

Antonio Piazza is a candidate for the Trowbridge Drynham ward for Wiltshire Council and the town council.

He received his Pfizer vaccination from South West Wiltshire Conservative MP Dr Andrew Murrison at Widbrook Medical Practice on Saturday.

Dr Murrison is deployed as a volunteer Surgeon Commander with the Royal Navy and is vaccinating patients in Trowbridge.

Urging young people to get their jab, Mr Piazza said: “Vaccines save lives and ultimately will be our way out of this pandemic.

"The evidence shows that over ten thousand lives have already been saved thanks to the vaccine programme.

"I urge everyone to book an appointment to receive their vaccine when they are offered the opportunity."

"I would especially ask that young people take up the offer of a vaccine as soon as called.

"I am 26-years-old and not invincible. I know people my age, including family members, who have suffered immensely after contracting Covid-19 and are still suffering.

"It is also important that the young continue to do their part in protecting those most vulnerable, as the majority of us have done such a fantastic job so far in making sacrifices and follow the rules in place that are saving lives.

“Surgeon Commander Andrew Murrison did such a fantastic job of administering the vaccine: completing in a quick and efficient manner.

"I have also heard of firefighters taking up roles as vaccinators in some NHS vaccine clinics too, so it has been a real local and national effort from so many different groups that deserve praise. The volunteers also were so welcoming and chatty, so anyone worried should feel at ease.

“We’re so close to getting our freedoms back, but we all need to continue playing our part and doing our duty. Thank you again to the keyworker heroes, everyone involved, that are making this happen.”
