MEMBERS of Warminster Town Council held an extraordinary general meeting yesterday evening (Thursday, April 22) at which they discussed financial support for two large projects to help revive their town centre.

The online meeting was held to tie up business before the forthcoming local elections on Thursday, May 6.

One of the main items on the agenda was whether to give £10,000 to the Athenaeum Centre refurbishment and redevelopment project from community infrastructure levy funds.

The other was whether to support the regeneration of the Central Warminster area to bring more visitors and shoppers into the town.

Members were asked to contribute £10,000 from general reserves towards professional plans and illustrations setting out the town council's aspirations for the area around Warminster Library and the Community Hub building.

As the Wiltshire Times went to press, the meeting had not been held. Details of the decisions will be published next week.
