FAMILIES in Holt are making a last-minute push to raise the £38,000 still needed to help build new premises for the village pre-school.

They have received 101 promises from local residents and businesses for an auction inspired by The Captain Tom Foundation and the Captain Tom 100 Challenge.

As part of their own fundraising campaign, parents and staff at Holt Pre-school are honouring Captain Sir Tom Moore's 100 years with the auction of promises.

The list of promises pledged so far varies from pony rides to a hot air balloon ride at the Longleat Sky Safari and golf at the courses at Castle Combe and Cumberwell.

Other promises include tickets for Frank Turner at the Cheese and Grain on June 27, Martin Kemp at Trowbridge Civic Centre on April 29, and a live Q&A with Bath and England rugby legend Lewis Moody who lives locally.

Fundraiser Anna Barratt said: “We have received promises from some amazing local people and businesses, including our 101st bonus promise of free beer for a year from the Box Steam Brewery."

“Holt Pre-school is badly in need of a new building. Should they fail to raise the necessary funds to replace the current structure, Holt will soon be without a pre-school - a tragic loss as it is so integral to the village community and serves a vital childcare role for many families.

“Having been awarded a number of grants and thanks to support so far, they have now raised £147,000 – 75 percent of the target. Please help them with this final push for the remaining £38,000 needed.

“With 101 lots to choose from and with bids starting at £1 there truly is something for everyone!

“We are determined to save our amazing Holt Pre-school and we hope you will join in the fun and enjoy this fantastic auction. Happy bidding!”

The auction is now live and you can bid at https://app.galabid.com/100promises. The closing date for bids is Sunday at 4pm.
