A FEMALE cyclist was killed on a road near Trowbridge today after a car lost control and crashed into her.
The tragedy occurred at about 11.30am on Westwood Road, near Trowle Common.
The crash victim was stood on the side of the road with a male cyclist when the Citroen Xsara collided with them.
They were both taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath where the woman cyclist later died from her injuries.
The male cyclist is still in hospital suffering from multiple fractures although police say his condition is not life threatening.
The two occupants of the Citroen were badly shaken but unhurt.
The road was closed for four hours while police investigations took place.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or to anyone who saw the car or cyclists prior to the tragedy. They should contact Pc John England at the Southern Roads Policing Unit on 0845 4087000.
