A WILTSHIRE bridal boutique has thrived during the Covid-19 pandemic despite fewer brides choosing to name the day for their wedding because of restrictions on the number of guests who could attend.

Jacqueline's Bridal Boutique in Market Place, Warminster, has survived three lockdowns since its launch in April last year.

Owner Neil Martin, 53, named the boutique after his sister Jacqueline, 54, who died in January 2019 from a broken heart.

Mr Martin, from Oldfield Road, Westbury, said: “Jacqueline always wanted to be a bride but sadly could not fulfil her dream.

“She was left heartbroken after her fiancee, David Dixon, 53, died of prostate cancer in January 2018.

"She died a year later and I wanted to do her proud and for her name to be remembered in the years to come.”

The boutique’s manageress Sharon Wright stocks gowns from sizes 8-34 to cater for the curvier bride.

Mr Martin said: "A lot of places have shut down during the pandemic but we have been really busy and sales have been good. We have had good reviews."

So far this year, the boutique has sold more than 50 gowns, despite restrictions on the number of guests at weddings which has forced some happy couples to delay getting married.

The boutique even catered for one bride who rushed in at the last minute to buy a gown to wear at her wedding that afternoon.

It buys its bridal gowns from local suppliers as well as from designers further afield.
