SOME like it hot - while others prefer it even hotter!

We're not talking about the weather - we're talking about hot and extremely hot chillis.

The inaugural Wiltshire Chilli Fest with Extra Cheese is set to heat up Westbury High Street on Saturday, September 25.

There will be extra cheese available to help cool the mouths of those brave enough to take part.

The scorching event, run by Westbury Town Council, will feature themed acts including Tequila Mariachi and hugely popular Bath outfit Samba de Jamba.

But the highlight will be watching the competitors taking part in a chilli-eating competition from the UK Chilli Queen - as seen on television.

The contest will be judged by the experts at Wiltshire Chilli Farm at Whitley, near Melksham, which has provided the special loco chilli seeds for the inaugural chilli competition.

Ryan Child, Westbury Town Council's events manager, said: "The Chilli Fest will definitely have something for everyone, especially if you like good music, great food and loads to do for kids.”

Activities and events for children include a circus workshop for kids and, for adults, there will be an all-day chilli market.

As the music flows, families will be able to sit and tuck into food from around the world while their El niño’s take part in a circus workshop, learn how to draw Day of the Dead Skulls, or watch a magician perform tricks live on stage.

The event is completely free and runs from 1pm-7pm. Last minute stallholder bookings are still available although spaces are limited. For event enquiries, contact events@westburytowncouncil.gov.uk.
