POPULAR restaurateur Haroom Ahmed is making welcome return to the Indian Tandoori in Trowbridge he first set up in 1978.
Known to many as Tony, the businessman handed over the Mogul Tandoori in Mortimer Street to a family member to continue the Indian restaurant and takeaway business.
But now, following popular demand, he is returning to the business he loved to run.
He has enlisted the renowned chef Tareq Hussain to also return for the grand reopening on Monday (August 23).
He said: "It’s like turning back the clock to make a return to the restaurant I set up over three decades ago and to welcome customers who became old friends.”
Sadly, one of his most famous customers won’t be coming back as he has died.
Somerset folk singer Fred Wedlock, famous for his 1981 hit single Oldest Swinger in Town, used to come from Timsbury for one of Tony’s takeaways.
Tony said: "I am looking forward to seeing some good friends at the reopening on Monday.”
