Alabaré, the Wiltshire-based charity which supports those who are vulnerable, marginalised and homeless, is gearing up for its third Big Sleep at Home event on Friday October 8.

The last two events, held under lockdown in October 2020 and March this year, proved so popular with both adults and children that the charity is busy getting ready for next month’s repeat event, this time marking World Homeless Day.

Following on from the success of the March event, which raised £55,000, the evening schedule will include stories, a quiz, a presentation for younger participants, and den building activities.

Alabaré spokeswoman Gemma Lee said: "It’s time to get creative and get your sleeping bag and blankets and find somewhere unusual to sleep for the night!

"The event invites people who wish to take a stand against homelessness and as it is a virtual event it enables people from all across the country to join together whatever their age, to help raise vital funds to help those who have faced the crisis of losing their home.

"The whole evening will be raising funds to help Alabaré provide support to those facing incredible difficulties during the pandemic and beyond. During the evening Big Sleepers will also hear from those who have benefited from the support that Alabaré and their supporters make possible."

There is still time to sign up to take part. Why not involve your friends and family by doing something creative and heartfelt this autumn, and together help rebuild lives this World Homeless Day?
