CHARITY fundraiser Robbie Newton is one of the 40,000 runners in today’s London Marathon and is looking for your support.

Mr Newton – aka Morphman – is hoping to complete the 26-mile course in a time of just over four and a half hours.

He’ll be raising cash for Macmillan Cancer Support – the nominated charity for builder’s merchants Travis Perkins where he works as an assistant branch manager in Melksham.

Mr Newton said: “As you may or may not know, I love doing my bit for charity!

“For 2021, I thought #charitymorphman needed an even bigger challenge, so have decided to do two marathons in two months in the famous #charitymorphman suit alongside other half marathons and 10k events.

“Training has begun and although I had coronavirus in February, nothing is going to stop me doing whatever it takes for Macmillan Cancer Support.”

Mr Newton has already completed the first of the two marathons in Brighton and is today tackling the second challenge – today’s London Marathon.

Already, he’s raised £2,351.10 including gift aid after smashing through his £2,000 target.

How your money helps -

  • £2 could keep a Macmillan information and support centre stocked with free cancer information leaflets for an hour.
  • Every £10 we spend on our phone service could lead to our welfare rights advisers on our Macmillan Support Line helping people affected by cancer to claim £355 in benefits they are entitled to.
  • £31 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for an hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.

He added: “Right now, Macmillan can only be there for one in four people at diagnosis.

“Macmillan are there to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. Everyone should have the support they need.

“Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities.

“Virgin Money Giving is a not-for-profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

“I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.”
