MEMBERS of Bradford on Avon Bowls Club are to try their skills at croquet later this year.

They voted for the trial of croquet at their annual general meeting on Sunday, December 5.

The sport requires players to employ skill, strategy and tactics to win a game.

Derrick Hunt, Honorary Secretary of Bradford on Avon Bowls Club, said: "We are fortunate in having Paul Francis, South West Development Officer of the Croquet Association living here in Bradford on Avon.

"There is a lot of details to work out in order to make this trial work; as usual we will do our best to make it work."

Mr Hunt said that 12 residents of Bradford on Avon already play croquet at Bath Croquet Club.

They will be able to practice on the green at Bradford on Avon Bowls Club when the season begins in the third week in April.

Bradford on Avon Bowls Club has already joined the Croquet Association, the sport's national governing body in England.
