STAFF at The Virtual Business Centre based in Brinkworth near Swindon are planning to support and fundraise for two charities – Cancer Research UK and the MND Association.

The team of 25 agreed to raise cash for these charities after co-founder Claire Brewerton decided they would continue to proactively support charities during 2022.

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading independent cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence, information and awareness and the MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by motor neurone disease across the UK.

Claire said: “At The Virtual Business Centre, members of our staff have experienced at first-hand how devastating cancer can be so this is close to the hearts of us all.

“Also, a member of my own extended family has motor neurone disease, so we wanted to support the MND Association as well.”

“As a small family business, we value our team. We have worked together for a number of years – in some cases employing members of the same family. It is very important that we can support our staff wherever and however possible.

“This year is the first time that we have, as a business, publicly recognised a couple of charities to support and we are holding ourselves accountable to do it.”

The Virtual Business Centre team are enthusiastic about the fundraising campaign for the two separate charities and will be doing their best to raise at least £1,000 for each charity.

Among the 2022 events being considered are: a wear pyjamas or fancy dress to work day and Claire, herself, is contemplating taking part in a race for life and more.

She explained: “I have a big birthday coming up this year and I have taken up pilates again as part of my new year fitness campaign and I’m on the usual January diet! I know it would help me stay more focussed on the exercise and dieting if I had a goal in mind.”

This year, The Virtual Business Centre will be celebrating its 23rd anniversary, as Claire has run the business with her husband and co-founder, Marc, since 1999.

Her team provides professional business services including telephone answering, intelligent telemarketing, an out-sourced customer service department, live chat, marketing via text service and email inbox marketing.

Last year, the company reached a huge milestone – it handled its three millionth message for clients.
