While we’ve experienced poor weather recently across the UK in the form of storms and flooding, it’s not over yet with snow also a possibility in some areas, including in Wiltshire.

It's important to be able to prepare for snowfall so, if you're unsure if your area is affected this week, look no further.

We’ve taken a look at the weather forecasts issued by both BBC and the Met Office and here’s what we found.

Will it snow in Wiltshire this week?

BBC weather

Whether you like it or not, the white stuff is on its way to Wiltshire before the weekend begins, according to BBC’s weather forecast.

You can expect sleet to fall from 1pm on Thursday February 24 and snow to fall heavily from 2pm on the same day in Chippenham.

Temperatures are said to be seven degrees Celsius but feel like two at 1pm with it feeling slightly warmer at 2pm at 3 degrees Celsius.

Light snow showers are expected from 3pm through to 5pm with no more snow expected from 6pm onwards on Thursday.

You’ll be pleased to know the sun is back out from Friday to Sunday so keep wrapped up warm until then.

Other areas in Wiltshire including Salisbury, Trowbridge, Warminster, Neston, Devizes, Melksham, Calne, Corsham and Royal Wooden Bassett are also set to expect a similar pattern of snow on Thursday, according to the BBC weather forecast.

Met Office

The Met Office forecast disagrees with the above to an extent, outlining that Wiltshire is set to experience “sunny spells and scattered showers, these wintry at times” on Thursday afternoon.

In its South West England weather forecast, the weather service says: “Thursday will be a colder day with sunny spells and scattered showers, these wintry at times through the afternoon. Brisk winds will make it feel even colder. Maximum temperature 8 °C.”

At the weekend, you should expect “Wintry showers easing Thursday night to leave a frosty start on Friday, but fine and sunny with lighter winds. Breezier again over the weekend but mainly dry and bright.”
