Residents in the Paxcroft Mead area of Trowbridge are planning a nature trail and a meadow strip to help celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

The initiatives are being coordinated by Paxcroft ward town councillor Mel Jacob who also runs The Big Community Grow project in Trowbridge.

Already, they have been given a £1,000 donation by housebuilders Persimmon towards the project and are hoping to win a £1,500 grant from the Trowbridge Area Board this week.

Mrs Jacob said: “In addition, working with The Big Community Grow, Friends of Paxcroft Brook and Friends of Green Lane Nature Park we have developed an idea for a Jubilee Nature Trail around the area linking Paxcroft Brook and Green Lane Woods.

“The trail will be marked with a series of waymarkers that highlight the wildlife in our area – this will be a trail around the area that can be walked or cycled."

Mrs Jacob said a group of six residents have also come together to plan a street party for the Paxcroft Ward on Friday, June 3.

“We are hoping for music, jelly, cake and all the fun of a traditional street party along with a talent contest for children and adults.”

“It will be a great way to bring people together after the horrible couple of years we have all been through with the Covid-19 pandemic.”
