There’s nothing we love more than a peek inside a property with a difference, even if we have no intention of buying.

Recently, we did some ‘window-shopping’ on Zoopla, and this is what we came across.

Possibly the quirkiest property for sale in our county right now, Tythe Barn ticks pretty much every box for what you’d want out of a Wiltshire home (aspirational, or otherwise).

Priced at a hefty £1,000,000, the barn offers 3,500 square feet of airy living space, and the house showcases exposed timber beams within double-height vaulted ceilings.

Wiltshire Times:

But how open is too open? One drawback for some to the otherwise beautiful country abode is that it is almost entirely set out across the one space, making privacy seem like it could be a challenge.

On the other hand, there is a clear blend of traditionalism mixed in with the contemporary- making it more than suitable if you’re that kind of family that just can’t decide.

Wiltshire Times:

While it might not be for everyone, we couldn’t help feeling like the open layout was very ‘Grand Designs.’ Kevin McCloud himself would be impressed, surely.

The location might be a compromise for some, as although it sits in the lovely Collingbourne Kingston, the village is a little way out from the hustle and bustle, being eight miles south of the market town; Marlborough.

But with a rural area, comes some stunning views.

There is a lawned area to the front of the property demarked by a chestnut post and rail fence and hedge. Just outside the kitchen is a large flat entertaining area which faces south.

Wiltshire Times:

Sloped gardens to the rear of the property have also recently undergone landscaping and replanting, according to the Estate Agents Carter Jonas, providing plenty of space for adventure.

Also boosting its period-style appeal, is a thatched roof - softening its otherwise modern exterior.

Nestled inside, is a well-appointed country kitchen with an oven electric Aga and space for dining and sitting with French windows leading to the garden… Don’t mind if we do.

Wiltshire Times:

According to Carter Jonas, a further reception area offers substantial space for entertaining on the first floor and leads through to the main bedroom suite which has a well-appointed bathroom, adjoining dressing room and nursery with a useful mezzanine area above.

Wiltshire Times:

A separate snug/ sitting room sits under on the ground floor and is just next to four further bedrooms (one is currently used as a home office), as well as two more bathrooms.

Wiltshire Times:

Is this the quirkiest property on the Wiltshire market right now?
