A tent was spotted outside Unity House in Chippenham yesterday after Wiltshire police issued a dispersal order following ongoing reports of ‘disorder’ at the site.

Police said that there have been several reports of people drinking excessive amounts of alcohol and fighting outside a hostel in Chippenham.

The dispersal order has been issued for Unity House and its, grassed area from 12.15 am this morning (29/3) until 2 am tomorrow (30/3).

The hostel is part of Alabaré, a charity supporting homeless adults, young people, veterans and those with learning disabilities.

A spokesperson for the charity told this newspaper: “At Alabaré we work closely with Wiltshire Police, Wiltshire Council and partner agencies in our role supporting vulnerable people and as active members of the Chippenham community.

"We do not condone any anti-social behaviour and report any such incidents that we witness to the Police.

“The Chippenham Police have kept us updated in relation to their recent actions and they have stated that the dispersal order they have in force today does not relate to residents living at Unity House.”

While the dispersal order is in place, only the residents of Unity House can now be in the area during these times.
