A man has been sent for Crown Court trial following an alleged firearms incident in Corsham on Thursday night.

Jamie Sharman-Palmer, 33, of Dicketts Road, Corsham, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Saturday morning (May 7) charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He was sent for trial at Swindon Crown Court on June 10 and was remanded in custody until that date. No plea has been entered at this stage.

Mr Sharman-Palmer was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning (May 6) following an incident the previous evening at a Londis shop in Pickwick Road and was taken into police custody at Melksham for questioning.

Officers were called to the shop at around 8.45pm on Thursday (May 5) following a report that a man was in the store allegedly threatening staff with a handgun.

When officers attended the scene, the man had left the area, however, enquiries and local knowledge from officers led them to make an arrest of a man in his 30s from Corsham.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
