RESIDENTS are urged to be vigilant following a spate of thefts of motorcycles from garages and outbuildings.

On Wednesday, May 11, at around 11pm, a motorbike worth £6,000 was stolen from an outbuilding in Silver Street. Offenders caused damage to the building to gain access before making off with the motorbike.

During the early hours of May 16, a Kawasaki motorbike was stolen from a locked garage in Jasmine Way – the garage door was damaged by offenders when they broke in.

On both occasions, the motorbikes stolen had been placed for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

Sgt Charly Chilton said: “Obviously incidents of this nature are extremely upsetting for the victims, who, on both occasions had been attempting to sell their bikes online.

“Whilst we fully appreciate selling personal items online is often extremely quick, easy and convenient we would urge people to be vigilant especially when giving out personal details such as your address to people who may not be as genuine as they initially seem.”

Please contact police on 101 if you can help, saw anything suspicious, or if you have doorbell footage that could help.
