HUNDREDS of people turned out in force in Bradford on Avon today (Friday, June 3) in the hope of picking up a bargain or two.

They flocked to the Lions Club of Bradford on Avon’s giant Jubilee car boot sale and fun day on Victory Field and the nearby Culver Close playing field.

Bradford on Avon Lions Club president Phil Courage said: “All the pitches were sold out and we had queues to get in from six in the morning, making the car boot sale one of the biggest ever.

“It’s been a real success and it’s great to see people out enjoying themselves.”

The Lions Club traditionally holds a car boot sale in the Victory Field to complement the fun day they hold each year on the Culver Close playing field.

Stall holder Lucy Westcott said: “We had dozens of requests for picnic baskets and similar items as people were shopping for street parties in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.”

The event opened at 7am this morning and is due to close at 4.30pm. Entry is free.

Tomorrow there’s a tea party at Holy Trinity Church from 2pm, and live music in Westbury Garden and Lamb Yard from 2.30pm-9pm.

On Sunday, there’s Jubilee at The Hall from 2pm-5.30pm, and a Night at the Opera at St Margaret’s Hall from 7pm-10pm.
