PLANS have been submitted for a new neighbourhood of "innovative modular homes" at Bore Hill Farm near Warminster.

The revised plans have been tabled by Legal & General Modular Homes, part of the UK financial services group.

It follows the withdrawal of a previous 2021 planning application for 95 new homes on the site, to enable further work to be carried on the layout of the development.

The revised plan features 84 homes and the provision of more green open space including a play area, and measures to promote biodiversity, such as wildflower meadow and fruit trees.

Mike Dempsey, LGMH’s business development director, said: “Withdrawing our previous plans has given us the opportunity to address feedback raised by consultees and local residents, undertaking further work to produce a revised layout that responds positively to the local context, with fewer homes and more green space.

“In addition to delivering the highest levels of energy efficiency, our innovative approach seeks to make the housing market fairer for all by delivering high-quality modular homes that are comfortable, sustainable and affordable, in what we hope will be a Net Zero Carbon development.”

The Bore Hill Farm site, west of Deverill Road, has been allocated by the Wiltshire Council Housing Site Allocations Plan as a location where new homes will be built.

Informed by the site’s status in the Development Plan for Wiltshire, as well as comments received on the previous plans, LGMH is preparing a revised full planning application to be submitted in September.

In addition to reducing overall numbers, the mix of innovative modular homes has been amended in response to feedback on the previous plans, to include a number of four-bed homes to provide options for larger families.

This is in addition to two and three-bed homes aimed at young families, first-time buyers, and those looking to downsize.

Mr Dempsey added: “With our innovative construction techniques resulting in greatly reduced build times, this will provide a much-needed boost to Wiltshire Council’s housing supply on a site designated for that purpose.

“The shorter build time also means much less noise, dust and disruption for neighbours compared to a traditional construction site.”

LGMH is again seeking the views of local residents through their updated consultation website – www.landgborehillfarm.co.uk. Feedback comments are invited until Wednesday, August 31, with a full planning application to follow in September.
