Organisers provided fun for all the family at this year’s Bowerhill Festival, which attracted almost 900 people from the local community.

The event on Saturday (September 24) featured stalls, a raffle, circus acts, inflatables, face painting, games, donkeys, a bar and a barbecue, and raised £6,000 for Bowerhill Primary School.

It was held at the school in Halifax Road, Bowerhill, near Melksham, and was organised by the school’s Parents and Teachers Association.

Melksham Carnival Queen Debbi Holman cut the tape to open the festival, which took place from 2pm-5pm.

A PTA spokesperson said: “Our very own Bowerhill Festival welcomed almost 900 people through the gate on Saturday.

“Not only was that a record in itself but through sales and activities on the day we generated almost £6,000. This is a new record and we are over the moon!

“Costs still need to be deducted to determine how much will go into the PTA pot however we wanted to share this fantastic news with you all.

“Thanks again to our incredible PTA team and everyone who joined us, it really was a brilliant day!”

New school head teacher, Chris Light, was delighted with the festival's success, saying "I'm told it was the busiest for many years."
