ONE of the largest pubs in Trowbridge has unveiled exciting new plans to reach out to its local community following a launch on Monday (September 26).

The Wiltshire Yeoman in Chilmark Road, Broadmead, has relaunched under new management, with exciting plans to attract customers old and new.

Regulars and newcomers were welcomed back to the dog-friendly pub following a temporary six-day closure and most will have noticed an immediate change in the furniture and behind the bar.

Ben Morgan, who is managing the pub with his partner Tom Morgan, said: “Monday was a fantastic evening and very well supported. We had around 200 people inside and lots outside in the garden.

“It was a much bigger turn-out than we expected. It was incredible. The Wiltshire Yeoman is an absolutely stunning venue.

“We want to turn the pub into a community hub. It has the feel of a village pub even though it’s on a housing estate.”

The 18th farmhouse has been transformed into a family-friendly watering hole and restaurant with new furniture, new menus, and new staff behind the bar.

Ben and Tom, who also run BeeTees Café Bar in Trowbridge town centre, now manage the town’s largest pub.

The move follows their success at the town’s smallest bar in Market Street, which they took on during the Covid lockdown.

The Wiltshire Yeoman was formerly an old farmhouse until it got surrounded by new housing on the Broadmead estate.

It boasts a log fire, oak beams and a 'village country pub feel' which has been enhanced with new furniture with cast iron legs to replace the old bar stools.

Ben and Tom have already introduced a new menu featuring traditional pub grub and a new wine list and new gin menu will be ready for the weekend.

The old sofas are gone and have been replaced with a more traditional bar setting. They have been complemented by a more contemporary dining area.

The partners heard the pub was available after overhearing a conversation during a visit to the local Bookers cash and carry outlet and Ben made some enquiries.

Within days they had made an approach and, when the lease is signed, they will be part of the Red Oak brewery group chain.

They welcomed customers old and new on Monday after a short six-day closure to carry out some of their refurbishment plans.

Ben said: “We’ve made a few changes already but we’ve got many more changes to come.

“We’re going to redecorate at some point – in November if we get the opportunity but more likely in January and February when the trade quietens down.”

Among the changes still to come, The Wiltshire Yeoman will get the Sunday carvery which is being moved to the pub from upstairs at BeeTees Café and Bar.

Ben and Tom are also planning to launch new menus for Halloween, Christmas and New Year’s Eve in the next couple of weeks.

They are already taking bookings for engagement parties, wedding receptions and wakes.

A new quiz night is also set to be introduced on Sundays, and they have plans to get the pub’s pool, darts and cribbage teams back again. A new pool table is on order and will be installed in the next two weeks.

While BeeTees Café Bar caters for Trowbridge town centre’s night-time economy and offers party evenings for adults, The Wiltshire Yeoman will cater for day-time trade, families and its local community.

The pub will open seven-days a week, from 12 noon to 11pm and from 12 noon to 12pm on weekends.
