A HOUSE that had just been sold has been trashed by a car crashing through the front of fit.

The Volkswagen Passat ploughed into the living room of the cottage on Westbury Road in Bratton.

Turnpike Cottage in the small village near Westbury had just been sold under offer by Winkworth Properties, and had a guide price of £335,000.

But that is likely up in the air after the two-bedroom home's front reception room was left severely damaged - and with the car still protruding from the building.

The wall and window have been caved in by the crash, and the vehicle remaining there likely suggests there are structural concerns to be dealt with first.

The house is a key fixture of the community's history as it dates back to 1780, and it is the first time it had come to market in twenty years.

The house has been taped off by Wiltshire Police, suggesting the owners have had to vacate the site for the foreseeable future.
