THE former Trowbridge Sports Bar has reopened under new management and hopes to gain a reputation as a family-friendly place to unwind.

The Castle Street bar closed in August for refurbishment after being taken over by the new lease holders Liam Tatton Bennett and Natalie Cook.

The couple said in August they were “working hard” to reopen the bar again with a new name and family-friendly vibe.

They reopened the bar – now renamed the Legends Sports Bar – on Friday, November 25 following refurbishment works.

Natalie’s sister Claire Young said: “Regular patrons will once again be able to enjoy a pint and friendly company whilst watching major sporting events at Legends Sports Bar on Castle Street.

“However, new customers are also being enticed with the clean looks, smart garden and new dance floor.”

Liam, an experienced DJ in local venues, took the venture on with his fiancée in the summer and they have been busy putting their mark on it.

He said: "It's always been a dream of mine to run my own licensed venue.

“I can't wait to offer Trowbridge another option for food and drink where quality and great value are put alongside fun surroundings and good music."

Liam and Natalie always liked the unusual layout of the bar and when they heard it was available, they jumped at the chance to take it on.

"From day one we had a vision for Legends Sports Bar, and it's been so exciting bringing it to reality," said Natalie.

"As parents ourselves, we're hoping to create a family-friendly space with games and a comfortable atmosphere for everyone to enjoy."

Pool tables, darts and a boomerang air hockey table are a selection of the games on offer.

Along with the freshly planted garden, they hope to make the newest bar in Trowbridge an entertaining place to unwind.

The late licence will mean that once the children are in bed, Liam's DJ skills will be put to good use and he’s hoping that crowd-pleasers will fill the dance floor.

The former Trowbridge Sports Bar last hit the headlines when several people were caught at a New Year’s Eve drinks party in breach of the Covid pandemic lockdown restrictions in place at that time.

In December 2019, a female door security guard suffered a serious injury after being glassed by a customer.
