The people of Trowbridge are being urged to nominate their unsung heroes for a community award.

The awards are presented each year at the Annual Town Gathering which this year takes place on Tuesday, April 18, at 6.30pm at the Civic Centre.

The awards give the town a chance to celebrate its local community and show its appreciation for its residents, voluntary groups and comnmunity organisations.

A Trowbridge Town Council spokesperson said: “We are asking you to nominate members of your community, those unsung heroes – a group or person who has made our community a happier place.

“This could be someone who always goes that extra mile: a group that regularly gives up their spare time to benefit the local community: a school class that has gone green! Give us a chance to recognise their achievements and celebrate them.”

Categories included Spirit of Youth (two awards), Public Sector Local Hero, Charity Fundraiser of the Year, Community Champion, Green Award, Club of the Year (Sport) and Club of the Year (Community).

One of the nominees will also receive the Mayor’s Award from Cllr Graham Hill.
