Two men have been arrested after police seized a vehicle containing £700 worth of goods stolen from Wiltshire supermarkets.

Road policing units identified a vehicle connected to high value shop thefts around the county as it entered Melksham, at around 5.45pm on Wednesday, June 21.

A search for the car, which involved officers from Trowbridge response team two and the Melksham neighbourhood team, concluded when it was located outside Asda on Bradford Road.

Two men believed to be linked to the car were found nearby, having tried to evade officers, and were both arrested for theft.

They have both since been charged and are due to appear in court.

Police recovered £700 worth of stolen items from the car, which has now been seized, and tweeted that large amounts of alcohol had been discovered in the vehicle.

The goods were taken from supermarkets in both Bath and Trowbridge.
