FIVE villages in Wiltshire will go head-to-head in a bid to represent the county in a prestigious competition.
Bowerhill and Shaw, both near Melksham, will compete against Aldbourne, Ludwell and Stapleford to represent Wiltshire in the Calor Village of the Year for England competition.
The five villages will now be judged by a panel including George McDonic, chairman of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (Wiltshire branch).
West and north Wiltshire villages are also in the running for the title of Best Kept Village, now in its 50th year.
The district winners were announced this week. Bishopstrow, Steeple Ashton and Winsley triumphed in the west Wiltshire category, while Hilmarton, Oaksey and Box were winners in the north Wiltshire category.
