I THINK that over the three days you have to take a lot of positives from WIltshire's performance against Oxfordshire.

It was difficult trying to get a team together but the team that went out there played in a cracking game of cricket. Richard Bedbrook must be congratulated on his first Minor Counties century. He really deserves it after putting in a lot of effort for Wiltshire over the years. Damian Shirazi's 106 was also very impressive and James Vince's 87 was great for him because he's been around the fringes for a while, but the innings he played on the first day was a credit to him and showed his potential and maturity. Ross Crick is another big positive. We've been assessing a number of seam bowlers in Wiltshire but unfortunately we've had to get in players from other counties so it was great to see the young lad, who plays Premier League cricket for South Wilts, coming in and taking a wicket with his first ball in Minor Counties. Overall he had a decent game and grabbed four wickets. Ross Travers must also be commended for the 60 plus overs he bowled in the match. In hindsight I believe we could have won the game if we had only taken a few of the catches we dropped.

Cancelling the tour is the correct call

I THOUGHT it was wrong when the England players had to make a decision on whether or not to play in Zimbabwe a few years back.

They were pressured by the media and had the spotlight on them when it wasn't their decision to make. At least the government has made it's stance clear this time round and I think it's the correct decision. I think it was inevitable that the tour was going to be cancelled and I think it is great that the decision was made early this time round instead of putting pressure on the players, because it should not be their decision. The things that are going on in Zimbabwe are not right and you cannot expect international cricketers to play against a country which is being run like it is.

"It's obviously going to have an effect on Zimbabwean cricket because if they aren't able to play against the top international sides they aren't going to be testing themselves. Ultimately this will have an adverse effecton their standard of cricket.

Good to be back but it still hurts

I PLAYED on Saturday against Cheltenham and I have to admit that I struggled with my back in the field but it wasn't a problem when I was batting.

It was great to be back out there batting again but it was a poor performance from us. We took our foot off the pedal after taking a couple of early wickets and that was disappointing because I think we could have madeit very difficult for them. While I was away with Wiltshire I saw a heptathlon physiotherapist who worked on my back and ever since then it's improved. The club have told me to rest this weekend and I'm a little bit disappointed but I hope to be back next week.
