Local grower Neville Day has clinched the Avonfield Cup yet again following a highly successful performance at the Bradford on Avon Flower and Produce Show.

He scored 18 firsts, three second and one third to lift the trophy for scoring the most points in the fruit and vegetable classes of the show.

Mr Day, 67, from Bradford on Avon, said: “I was very pleased. There was a lot of entries in this year’s show so I was delighted to win the cup again.

“It is a hobby but a very busy one. I’ve just been trying to keep everything alive in this weather.”

He was particularly pleased to win the class for five different vegetables, having entered a leek, a large onion, a large cauliflower, a carrot and a tomato.
