Eagle-eyed passers-by may have spotted this strange fungus growing on a tree in the Go Wild area of Trowbridge town park.
You may have been mystified by exactly what it is - so now we need help from fungi and mushroom experts to correctly identify it.

We asked the Trowbridge Environmental Community group for help and they say: “Having asked on social media, the suggestion is that it is Golden Scaly Cap ( Pholiota Aurivala ).”
Their answer comes from the British Mycological Society, a group of enthusiasts interested in fungi and mushrooms.
