A new family-owned independent nursery has been launched above the Baloo’s soft play centre in Trowbridge and it has availability to take on more children.

Bumpers Nursery is the brainchild of Lucy and Barry Coombs, who own the Baloo's soft play centre in Silver Street.

They run the soft play centre on the ground floor but had plenty of space above to locate the new day nursery which can accommodate up to 80 children aged 2-5.

Bumpers is being managed by Ella Talbot, 52, from Warminster, who was previously deputy manager of the Bright Stars nursery in Frome.

She has taken on four qualified staff, three of whom have early years degrees, to supervise the children joining the nursery.

“We opened on October 16 and it’s going really well. We have already taken on 12 children who are enjoying a range of activities.”

These include messy play, role play, construction play, and community-based activities such as litter picking, visiting local care homes and Trowbridge Library.

“The children also regularly visit the local fruit shop to buy fruit and then come back here to prepare and eat it,” Mrs Talbot said.

Baloo’s formerly used the top level of the two-storied building for party rooms, more soft play and additional seating.
